A Master in Occupational Psychology degree teaches students a foundational understanding of how people and groups function in an organization. Courses in a occupational psychology curriculum are categorized into eight different areas, each prepping the student for carrying-out research and applying concepts of social psychology and theories of organization to examine issues in the business environment. Upon completion of all program courses and electives, students of occupational psychology will also prepare a research thesis. On graduation, students will find employment with human resource departments as industrial or organizational psychologists or as human resources managers.
Prospective students take classes in human resource management principles aimed at teaching the student about the different theories, methodologies and practical applications of managing and leading people. Students learn about managing the employment relationships of individuals and studying the interactions of groups of people with their leaders or followers.
Learners of occupational psychology will take classes in career development to examine how people view their careers, what drives and motivates them and how they interact with others in the workplace. Learners will study how individuals chart their careers, manage those careers, make life transitions, impact of careers on social environments, intervention strategies and development theory and application.
