All The President’s Men is a phenomenal film not only about politics but also about journalism. The movie won four Academy Awards. Dustin Hoffman and Robert Redford play real life journalists Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward, the two Washington Post reporters who blew the lid off the Watergate scandal which brought down the presidency of Richard Nixon.

This film garnered the attention of audiences all around the country. The story itself caught the attention of Robert Redford who followed the articles published by Woodward and Bernstein while they were investigating the Watergate incident.

Woodward and Bernstein were going to write their story as a book about politics, but Redford convinced them that the story was really about them – their doggedness and their dedication to their craft. So the book, All the President’s Men, was altered by Woodward and Bernstein to focus more on their investigation than on the politics, as it was originally intended. Robert Redford bought the rights to the story and set out to produce the film.
