Technical Drawing Careers

Companies often have the need for employees with a specific technical background who can write. Whether it's writing the specs for a new cell phone or PC or writing a software user manual or prescription drug insert, technical writers are found in nearly every industry today. As our modern world develops and technology becomes more complex, the need for technical writers and the number of tech writer jobs will keep growing.

Education of Technical Writers

Technical writers come from a wide variety of backgrounds. While the large majority have undergraduate and/or advanced degrees in English, communications or in a technical field, some older technical writers learned the technology on the job as their writing skills were noted in another position and they moved over to technical writing. A number of universities and community colleges also now offer degree programs and certificates in technical writing or technical communications, and many employers are creating formal educational requirements for tech writers.
